Spritz Blanket

Spritz Blanket

$375.00

The Spritz Blanket is a nod to Montana’s Norwegian heritage.  It reminds us of holiday cookies, good food – lutefisk, lefse, meatballs and rutabagas, the warmth of families, and a soft place to land during long Montana winters.  Normally, we would say grab a book and a mug of hot apple cider.  But this time you might enjoy curling up under the Spritz Blanket and watching, “John, the Last Cowboy” which is a documentary of John Hoiland (1927-2024) from McLeod (https://fimfilm.no/full-filmography/john-the-last-cowboy).  As his lifelong friend Jim Larkin said, “The only reason I get up in the morning is to see just what the hell could take place.”  That makes us smile.  Turns out a lot can happen if you keep your eyes open and take in a little scenery.

Pairs Well With:

Christmas cookies, a mug of hot cider and the documentary “John, the Last Cowboy”.

Description

Much of Montana was settled by Norwegian immigrants at the turn of the last century.  Like so many looking for religious freedom and escaping famine in Norway, they came to America for a better life.  Over the period of 100 years a third of the population left Norway for the United States.  With them they brought an incredible work ethic and a willingness to build communities that would last.  Places like Melville and Big Timber, Montana, where knowing your neighbor and giving them the benefit of doubt is sacrosanct.  Phrases like, “He’ll get over himself,” is the acknowledgement and grace given that someone is essentially good and needs a little time get it together after a rough go.
